Description
DeForest Training AM Superheterodyne Radio Kit/Training Hardware. Late 40's/early 50's period mail-order electronic training course (from my dad's estate). The power supply and other parts of the bread boarding training hardware are used to build the AM radio as the final project. Once built, it is used to test alignment, troubleshooting, and building skill of the trainee. I can say that the wax paper caps are out of spec as well as many of the non-Allen Bradley style resistors (I only showed a few). Mica caps should be still good. I changed the electrolytic caps in the power supply as well as the two high voltage posts (530 VDC across the output bleeder resister). No documentation, I did find the schematics for the radio. Most of the major parts are there (I'm not sure if the tuning cabling from the tuning shaft to the tuning cap has another piece or not). I do not have the time to build it or a location to show it off. Will package the pieces better when shipping. Tubes are untested. There is an unused 6E5 magic eye tube and a CE-30-D photo tube. I actually bread boarded some circuits with the parts when i was younger and still had the manuals for the course, as well as building the test equipment offered in the course (VOM, 2" Oscilloscope, and RF generator). There is a course manual on the internet but it does not cover building the test equipment or the radio. Caution - High Voltage and lead solder.
